What’s your Goal

It seems like such a hard question and yet such an irrelevant one. How many times has someone asked your what your goal is and you gave a very general answer…. I wanna lose weight. When pressed for specifics it becomes a very flustering question as that requires commitment and planning, which creates responsibility for ones actions. This becomes further complicated by the difficulty in figuring out how to track your progress and where is the time to work towards your goal. Suddenly, goal setting becomes a nearly impossible task!

S.M.A.R.T Goals

The key is to create S.M.A.R.T goals…. I know you are thinking that you have heard that before and that’s the part that seems so difficult to plan! Well here’s the deal, you have to do it slow at first, and be realistic about it. I have a goal to reach 20 consecutive pull-ups to begin my road to a Twelve Gym Black Belt.

The Process

The first step is establishing my baseline, so that i can measure my progression. I found that i can currently do 15 pretty clean pull-ups in a row. So my goal is to raise my consecutive pull-up ability from 15 to 20 reps in a certain time frame. i can Measure this goal by routinely testing my ability and tracking the results. Given my baseline ability i would believe that 5 pull-up increase should be Attainable. Pull-ups are an integral part to the sport of Ninja Warrior and thus Relevant to my current and overall goal. I believe that i should be able to increase 1 pull-up every 2 days, so that i reach my goal in 10 days.

Effciency

I plan to complete this goal by doing reps of pull-ups everyday along with my specific band workouts to prevent damage to my muscles. The Neurofit will be integral to my workout and many goals moving forward as it allows such a diverse workout in minutes a day. Thinking about the efficiency of the methods towards your goal is one of the biggest keys to success in today’s world.
